From Vienna
Exit the S6 at Kapfenberg and continue along the B20 following the signposts for Mariazell. Turn left off the B20 onto the road to Aflenz. Once in Aflenz follow the signs for Berglift Aflenz (approx. 1 km to the base station of the double-seater chairlift and the starting point for the Panoramastraße (scenic route).
From Graz (A9)
Take the S35 (express highway to Bruck) as far as Bruck a. d. Mur. Then turn onto the B116 following the signpost for Kapfenberg. Turn off onto the B20 and follow the signs for Mariazell.
Turn left off the B20 onto the road to Aflenz. In the village follow the signs for Berglift Aflenz
(appox. 1 km to the base station of the double-seater chairlift and the starting point for the Panoramastraße (scenic route).
Once on the Bürgeralm,
You’ll find the Almrauschhütte right in the middle of sun-drenched alpine pastureland. The Almrauschhütte is only a few steps away from the car park. From the two-seater chairlift, it’s a 10 minute stroll to the base station of the three-seater chairlift.
The hut can be accessed via the 8km toll road or with the two-seater chairlift.

- Intersport Michaeler (beside the church)
- Marktgemeinde Aflenz/Kurverwaltung Aflenz (opposite the church)
- Liftstüberl (at the base station of the two seater chairlift)
- Gasthaus Pierergut (at an altitude of 1,000 m, closed on Tuesdays – except for July and August)
- Almrauschhütte Aflenz Bürgeralm
The toll road is accessible for automobiles during the summer season (May to October/November).
The Bürgeralm is an 18 minute ride on the two-seater chairlift.
